School of Life Sciences and Technology Holds 3rd SLST Frontier of Cancer Research and Therapy Forum

ShanghaiTech University's School of Life Sciences and Technology successfully held the Third SLST Frontier of Cancer Research and Therapy Forum on December 5that the Zhangjiang campus.


Dr. Jiang Ge, Director of ShanghaiTech's Human Resource Office, was invited to address an opening remark and introduce the progress of the development of SLST as well as the Science and Innovation Center and the Imaging Center.


Dr. Sun Yi, Director of Institute of Translational Medicine in Zhejiang University, Dr. Zhang Lingqiang from Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine, Dr. Hu Ronggui and Dr. Gao Daming from Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Dr. Hu Guohong from Institute of Health Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (CAS), Dr. Stephanie Ma from University of Hong Kong, Dr. Huang Min from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (CAS), Dr. Chen She from National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing, Dr. Zhuang Guanglei from Shanghai Jiaotong University's School of Medicine, Dr. Xu Bin from Changhai Hospital at the Second Military Medical University, and Dr. Shannon Chuai from Burning Rock Biotech were invited to the forum and presented their research work.


The talks were divided into three major parts, which were Cancer Signaling Modifications, Cancer Biology and Metastasis, and From Diagnosis to Cancer Therapeutics. The speakers had quite a discussion on the topic ofHow far are we from curing cancer, touching on everything from basic sciences to clinical translational sciences and industry.


At the special session, Zhao Jianfei from Nature Communications shared his experience as an editor in Nature Publishing Group based in China and advised attendees on how to get published in Nature and its sister journals.


After all the talks, the speakers and our SLST PIs had a round-table discussion about cooperation opportunities in the near future.


Over 100 participants from ShanghaiTech, SIBS, SIMM, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Changhai Hospital and several Biotech companies joined the forum.
