Group Introduction

Research Area:
Macrophage Metabolism, Function, and Biology
Research Interests:

Macrophages are dynamic cells of the innate immune system. Our lab is focused on how cellular metabolism influences the functions of macrophages, especially their regulation of inflammatory responses. Provide forward-looking ideas and possible diagnosis and treatment methods for infectious diseases and other diseases.

Research Achievement

Our lab has recently shown that macrophage metabolism, and in particular a pathway centered on a mitochondrial metabolism-histone modification axis, regulates inflammatory responses. While most studies have focused on metabolic support for induction of inflammatory responses, we have revealed how this pathway can modulate both inflammatory response induction and suppression, which we believe may be relevant to many settings of dysregulated inflammation including overwhelming infection, antitumor immunity, aging, and autoimmunity. In ongoing studies, we combine metabolic, genetic, and biochemical tools and analyses and cell biological and mouse models to further elucidate the rationale and etiology of metabolic regulation of inflammatory responses, especially inflammatory response suppression.
