We aim to decipher molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neural development and brain wiring and develop novel strategies targeting neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) and promoting neuronal repair after injury.
Major topics include: understanding genetic and molecular mechanisms of human cortex development and evolution; dissecting molecular and cellular mechanisms of NDD occurrence and progression; developing molecular and physiological modifiers for NDD and nerve injury. Major approaches include: 2D cultured neuronal cells and 3D cultured human brain organoids, transgenic animal models, biochemical analysis, electrophysiological recording, multi-omics, single-cell technology, bioinformatics, immunohistochemistry, and animal behavior analysis.
